Met tonight with the builder, a guy who has built 100s of houses and condos over the last 40 years. He is very reputable, and the price is supposed to reflect the higher quality of materials. Even so, we made a list of things to ask for:
- Larger deck – composite material
- Solid 6-panel doors throughout
- Wider driveway + turnaround
- Extra gas hookup for dryer
- Rough plumbing in basement for future finished basement
- Hardwood floor in kitchen, stairs, and landing
- Wainscoting in DR and Crown moldings in DR & LR
- Boxed out window in kitchen
- A few other upgrades
The goal was to ask for these things plus a general allowance, in order to offset added costs that *will* come up during and after construction. Supposed to think about it and make an offer within a day.
